For years TV stations kept cutting little scenes
OUT of NG and other productions to make room for commercials.
Fortunately NBC recently released the original broadcasts on the Internet.
The "UFO" from This Island Earth was such a scene.
I knew I saw it in the original '71 broadcast but it was never shown in syndication
or even in following DVD versions.
The eerie faces were also cut out of this episode,
if I remember correctly:
